Balloons, singing and the planting of a commemorative shrub were the order of the day at Great Linford Primary School for Mark Lancaster MP as he joined staff and pupils to celebrate their 40thbirthday.
The school doors opened on 1st September 1976 and the new pupils were greeted by the very first head teacher Miss Walker, who at the time was required to keep a punishment book! The current head teacher Miss Lovelock was more than happy to share that she doesn’t hold such a record these days.
A number of former pupils have remained in the area and returned to the school either as teachers or have become members of the administration team.
Mark commented, “There was a great sense of pride from the staff and pupils about the schools achievements over the past four decades and the references to the family, demonstrated the important part they all play within the community. Happy Birthday!”
