"My name is Dan Gilbert and I am the Conservative Party candidate for Loughton & Shenley, which includes Grange Farm, Great Holm, Medbourne and Oakhill.
I live in Milton Keynes with my partner and two-year-old basset hound, Basil, and work as a director at a public relations consultancy. Like a lot of people in the area, I'm a regular commuter through Milton Keynes Central. I previously worked in Parliament and as an adviser on higher education and innovation policy in central government.
Among my pledges, I'm committed to defending weekly bin collections, protecting local salt (grit) bins and helping residents oppose bad planning proposals. If elected, I will continue the campaign to scrap the parking permit charge imposed by the Labour-run council on Loughton. I'm also campaigning for better road safety, particularly around Engaine Drive in Shenley Church End.
I was the only council election candidate to attend the official ‘hustings’ debate organised by Loughton & Great Holm Parish Council. During the hustings, I was able to answer questions from concerned residents and meet those in attendance. As your Councillor, I will be committed to working collaboratively with our local parish councils and our local Member of Parliament, Iain Stewart. Please vote for me on 3 May.
