Bletchley Park Cllr Allan Rankine has welcomed the news that Milton Keynes College has been provided planning permission from MK Council for the Institute of Technology in Bletchley.
The development is a product of the government’s £23 million investment in Bletchley through the New Towns Deal, announced by Chancellor Rishi Sunak in March 2021.
Institutes of Technology are unique collaborations between employers, colleges and universities that specialise in offering high-quality Higher Technical Education and training in subjects.
Cllr Rankine submitted his support for the IoT at a meeting of MK Council’s Planning Committee on 6 January. He said that “it is essential development critical to the regeneration of Bletchley” and that “the new institute will help establish Milton Keynes as a centre for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics”
“I am particularly impressed that their courses will enable students suffering from disabilities and that cyber courses will tap into the talents of students who are neurodiverse.
Bletchley is renowned for innovation and cyber security and I am pleased to say that this new institute will keep that tradition going by developing our next generation of code breakers.”
